Hindustan Times has roped in industry veteran Tariq Malik to Head Business for its OTT platform called OTTplay. Tariq moves from DEN Cable where he was Vice President. HT Media has recently launched the OTTplay Premium service which aggregates multiple over the top (OTT) platforms under one roof with a single billing.
Tariq is an MBA (Marketing) and has an advanced degree in General Management from the illustrious IIM Ahmedabad. Tariq is reliably learnt to be serving his notice period at DEN Cable and will be joining OTTPLAY in the first week of December 2023. He Headed the overall business success for the OTT, Broadband, and Value-Added Service BU for the company, directing the overall Business Development, Sales Management, P&L Management, and team leadership.
HT Media’s OTT venture, Premium, has established content partnerships with a dozen OTT platforms, including Sony LIV, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play, ShemarooMe, Sun NXT, FUSE+, Tastemade+, Curiosity Stream, Hallmark Movies Now, DUST, DocuBay, and ShortsTV. HT Labs CEO & Co-Founder Avinash Mudaliar had previously stated their goal of attracting up to 5 million subscribers by 2023. OTT Play, which originated as a personalized recommendation system for content from over 55 OTT platforms, now boasts more than 5 million unique visitors.
