The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) organized an informative webinar on “Offline Verification using the Aadhaar App“. Ahead of the formal launch of the new Aadhaar app, the webinar was attended by over 250 organizations and individuals from various sectors. UIDAI detailed the benefits of offline verification.

In his welcome address, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO, UIDAI highlighted the overall objectives of the webinar, which include promoting offline verification, building a robust ecosystem for the same and spreading awareness about the features, benefits and possibilities of offline Aadhaar verification through the upcoming Aadhaar App.
He emphasized that the facility of offline verification will provide a secure, convenient and privacy-protective method of identity verification to both users and entities and will also discourage sharing and reliance on physical/photocopy of Aadhaar, which is a potential cause of fraudulent practices.
Following this, Mr. Vivek Chandra Verma, DDG, UIDAI, gave a detailed presentation, explaining the purpose, scope, and practical applications of offline verification. The session also discussed the technical framework, integration methods, and the future-ready nature of the verification process.
UIDAI officials discussed various aspects of offline verification and its potential uses, including hotel check-in, entry into a residential society, event entry, etc. The officials explained various methods of offline verification, including QR-based verification.
Participants were briefed in detail about the benefits of offline verification, including the option to verify and share complete or selective Aadhaar information and the ability to verify proof of presence through offline face verification.
UIDAI officials also mentioned several other benefits for Aadhaar number holders, including inclusion of Aadhaar details of up to five family members in the app, complete control over which Aadhaar data is shared, the option to disclose complete or selective Aadhaar information, one-click biometric lock/unlock for enhanced security, and hassle-free mobile number and address update options.
The session received an overwhelming response from stakeholders involved in the new system, and the UIDAI team answered many questions. Participants were encouraged to connect with UIDAI to explore use cases, technical integration requirements, and the process for joining as entities willing to perform offline verification (OVSE).
At the end of the event, organizations and participants were invited to stay connected to learn more about the features and capabilities coming with the new Aadhaar App and to promote offline verification mechanisms to improve convenience for people and strengthen secure digital identity services across the country.
