Indian markets volatile, Sensex ends 336 points up, Nifty climbs 120 points

Indian markets concluded Tuesday’s session with gains, recovering from earlier losses to finish on a positive note. The benchmark Sensex advanced 335.97 points (0.40%) to close at 83,871.32, while the Nifty 50 climbed 120.60 points (0.47%) to end at 25,694.95. The uplift was driven by strong performances across several key sectors, notably IT, Auto, Metal, and Oil stocks.

According to Ashika Institutional Equities, Indian markets witnessed a highly volatile session, with the benchmark Nifty oscillating between gains and losses throughout the day. This caution was largely attributed to cautious sentiment prevailing ahead of the Bihar state elections, demonstrating how domestic political cues can influence short-term market movements.

Despite a weak opening, the Nifty index displayed resilience, rebounding sharply from its day’s low of 25,449 to touch an intraday high of 25,699. This rebound reflects a tug-of-war between bulls and bears, but crucially, it demonstrated that the Nifty successfully maintained the critical psychological support level of 25,500.

On the global front, market sentiment remained jittery. The U.S. Senate’s recent approval of a bill to end the government shutdown raised expectations of renewed volatility across global markets. The resolution of the shutdown, while positive for macro stability, often prompts a reassessment of risk and liquidity among international investors.

Sectorally, the recovery was clearly led by IT, Auto, and Metal stocks, which helped the index climb back from early losses. Overall, market participants remained watchful as both domestic political cues and evolving global developments continue to dictate market direction, suggesting continued selectivity and caution will be the theme in the immediate trading days ahead.
