Savitri Jindal, the wealthiest woman in India, has once again elevated her position among the nation’s billionaires, surpassing software magnate Shiv Nadar of HCL Technologies. This achievement comes five months after she surpassed Azim Premji in net worth.
With a staggering fortune of $31.50 billion, Savitri Devi Jindal currently ranks fourth in India’s billionaire list, trailing only Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Shapoor Pallonji Mistry, as per Bloomberg data. Interestingly, Shiv Nadar’s net worth stood at $31.30 billion. Notably, the gap between the two billionaires was as wide as $20.01 billion in January 2022.
In 2024 alone, Savitri Jindal’s net worth has soared by $6.8 billion, following a significant $11 billion surge in 2023, according to Bloomberg data. This surge is attributed to the persistent rally in stocks such as Jindal Steel & Power, JSW Energy, and JSW Infrastructure, which collectively contribute 56% to her net worth.
While shares of Jindal Steel & Power and JSW Energy surged by approximately 50% over the past six months, JSW Infrastructure saw a 30% gain during the same period. Additionally, JSW Steel, which accounts for 23% of Jindal’s net worth, recorded a 13% increase in the last six months.
In contrast, Shiv Nadar’s net worth has declined by $2.6 billion since the beginning of the year, primarily due to a lackluster performance by HCL Technologies. Shares of HCL Technologies, the third-largest software company by market capitalization, plunged as much as 21% from their February highs.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mukesh Ambani maintains his top position with a net worth of $108.8 billion, followed closely by Gautam Adani with $99.1 billion. Shapoor Pallonji Mistry, a major shareholder in Tata Group companies, holds a net worth of $37.54 billion.
