Swiggy Instamart, the rapid delivery division of Swiggy, which is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), has announced the appointment of Sairam Krishnamurthy as its senior vice president and chief operating officer.
In his new role, Krishnamurthy will manage Swiggy Instamart’s various operational aspects, including dark store management, infrastructure, and city expansion efforts.
Krishnamurthy noted that within just four years, Swiggy Instamart has become a vital part of consumers’ routines and represents the future of grocery retail.
With over 18 years of experience across FMCG, consumer technology, and retail sectors, Krishnamurthy’s previous roles include chief operating officer at More Retail’s supermarket division, and chief merchandising officer prior to that. He has also held significant positions at Ola Mobility as Head of India Supply and spent 14 years at Hindustan Unilever Limited in diverse roles related to sales, marketing, and innovation. Krishnamurthy holds an engineering degree from BITS Pilani and a PGDM from IIM Bangalore.
Swiggy, based in Bengaluru, has confidentially submitted IPO documents seeking Rs 10,400 crore (approximately $1.25 billion) and is expected to go public shortly, according to sources. American investment firm Invesco, which led Swiggy’s last funding round, has slightly reduced the fair value of the company as of April 30, compared to the previous quarter.
