PUMA India and Bumble unite for singles-only running event with a fresh approach to dating

In a unique fusion of fitness and social connections, PUMA India and Bumble, the popular women first dating app, recently teamed up to host a one of a kind singles-only running event on November 10, just ahead of Singles’ Day on November 11. Targeting young adults aged 21–35, the event aimed to bring like-minded individuals together in an active, engaging way and was held in Bengaluru at Nexus Koramangala mall. The run covered a 3 km distance and concluded with a social mixer, allowing participants to connect over shared interests like fitness and running.

In India, social interactions among Millennials and Gen Z are evolving, with many young adults now seeking connections that align with their interests and lifestyles. According to a recent Bumble survey, an impressive 72% of Indians expressed an openness to sports-themed first dates, with 44% viewing a lack of interest in sports as a potential dealbreaker. With an increasing interest in sports, from documentaries to international competitions, it’s no surprise that this enthusiasm is impacting dating dynamics.

Bumble’s research further underscores this shift for one-third of single Indians, a shared love of sports has become a ‘must-have’ in a potential partner. This trend points to a growing preference for integrating dating into existing personal passions, like fitness, rather than treating it as a separate activity. As a result, the Singles Run offered a fresh opportunity for participants to connect through a shared enthusiasm for fitness and active lifestyles, embodying a new trend in dating where personal interests are front and center.

Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director of PUMA India, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, “We are committed to exploring unique ways of engaging with our young consumers and connecting them through the power of sport. Partnering with Bumble, who shares our vision of creating distinctive experiences for young people to meet and connect, is truly exciting.”

This event marked not just a celebration of Singles’ Day, but a new approach to dating in India, where shared interests are becoming a cornerstone in fostering connections among young adults.
