In the latest Hurun Global Rich List 2025, business magnate Mukesh Ambani has fallen out of the prestigious top 10 wealthiest individuals, marking a significant shift after a staggering Rs 1 lakh crore decrease in his fortune over the past year. The decline, largely attributed to mounting debt levels, has caused setbacks for the chairman of Reliance Industries, although Ambani retains his position as Asia’s wealthiest person. Despite the dip, his influence remains significant in the region.
The wealthiest title globally was claimed by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, whose fortune surged by an eye-popping 82%, amounting to $420 billion, thanks to a remarkable $189 billion increase in his net worth.
In a historic achievement, Roshni Nadar, of HCL Technologies, now stands as the fifth richest woman in the world. With a net worth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, she has become the first Indian woman to join the ranks of the global top 10 women, following a strategic transfer of a 47% stake in HCL from her father, Shiv Nadar.
Ambani’s Asia Dominance Amid Global Setback:
Though Ambani dropped out of the global top 10, his dominance in Asia remains unchallenged. However, his wealth decline is linked to challenges faced by Reliance Industries, which has been struggling with sluggish growth in its energy and retail sectors. Investor concerns about rising debt have further dampened the conglomerate’s performance, though Ambani continues to focus on expanding into digital platforms and renewable energy.
India’s Wealth Surge:
Meanwhile, Gautam Adani, the founder of the Adani Group, has emerged as India’s wealthiest gainer, with a nearly Rs 1 lakh crore increase in his net worth. Despite controversies following the Hindenburg report, Adani’s diversified empire, spanning ports, power generation, media, and cement, continues to see impressive growth.
The latest rankings reflect both challenges and triumphs in the world of Indian business, with key players like Ambani, Adani, and Nadar leading the charge on the global stage.
