In a significant development, India has approved semiconductor proposals worth a total of Rs 1,26,000 crore. These approvals mark a significant step towards enhancing India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and reducing its reliance on imports in the semiconductor sector.
The approved proposals include:
- India’s first commercial semiconductor fab facility, to be set up by TATA in Dholera, Gujarat, with an investment of 91,000 crore. This facility is expected to play a crucial role in boosting India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and supporting the country’s electronics industry.
- TATA’s semiconductor packaging plant in Assam, with an investment of 27,000 crore. This plant will further strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem and contribute to the development of the electronics manufacturing sector in the region.
- CG Power’s plant in Sanand, Gujarat, with an investment of 7,600 crore. This plant will focus on semiconductor manufacturing and is expected to create significant employment opportunities in the region.
