The recent annual summit in Russia laid down a marker by way of showcasing how far the bloc has come, with four new members – Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates – inducted into this 3 day long summit that hosted leaders from 36 countries. Growing in influence, BRICS is becoming an increasingly notable voice on the global stage. India stands out as one of the biggest gainers from the rise in stature of the group, allowing it to pursue its policy principle of strategic autonomy while furthering its causes on multiple fronts.
