Tesla Powers Up in Delhi-NCR, Takes out Lease on Sprawling Experience Centre

Tesla, the global leader in electric mobility, is set to inaugurate its first full-scale retail, delivery, and service hub in Delhi-NCR, with its sprawling new facility at Orchid Business Park, Sohna Road, Gurugram. Slated to open to the public in August 2025, this 33,475 square-foot “experience centre” cements Tesla’s intent to revolutionize urban mobility across India’s capital region, just weeks after its Mumbai launch

Delhi-NCR: A Critical Piece of the Puzzle

Delhi-NCR represents the beating heart of India’s urban affluence, corporate dynamism, and automotive aspiration. Tesla’s move to lease an expansive, centrally-located hub in Gurugram is more than a real estate play—it’s strategic market penetration. With a monthly rent of nearly Rs. 40 lakh and a nine-year commitment, the premium location gives Tesla proximity to both wealthy suburbs and bustling business districts, ensuring easy accessibility for potential customers and corporate fleets alike. The facility will be delivered as a “warm shell,” allowing Tesla to exercise full design and branding control, a hallmark of its global retail philosophy.

A Seamless Customer Experience

The Gurugram facility is not just a showroom—it’s a one-stop shop for Tesla’s signature ownership experience. Prospective buyers can explore the latest Model Y, now available in rear-wheel drive (Rs. 59.89 lakh ex-showroom) and Long Range variants (Rs. 67.89 lakh). Customers will also enjoy integrated delivery and after-sales service under a single roof—a move designed to allay concerns about EV ownership in a country where service support and charging infrastructure are pivotal concerns.

By setting up a significant presence in both Delhi’s Worldmark, Aerocity (display and experience centre) and Gurugram (retail, service, and delivery hub), Tesla is creating a dual-front in the NCR. The Gurugram outlet, operational from July 15 under a lease registered July 28, anchors Tesla’s regional ambitions, while the Aerocity centre targets high-footfall zones near Indira Gandhi International Airport for maximum customer exposure.

As Tesla gears up for deliveries in India starting Q3 2025, NCR customers—alongside Mumbai and Pune—will be among the first to receive vehicles, rely on Tesla’s distinctive flat-bed delivery model, and benefit from prioritized infrastructure rollout, including a planned network of 16 superchargers across the capital.

Boosting India’s EV Ecosystem

Tesla’s Delhi-NCR investment is expected to act as a “demand accelerator” for EV adoption. Beyond high-profile car launches, the presence of a global brand in the market elevates public trust, attracts investor attention, and compels local competition to raise standards. Though Tesla’s pricing remains premium, the aspirational halo could shift perceptions and drive policy support toward an electrified future.

Tesla’s NCR foray is a clear signal of long-term commitment. Backed by a secure nine-year lease, premium positioning, and indigenous staffing, the Gurugram hub showcases the company’s readiness to engage deeply with Indian consumers and collaborate on the EV ecosystem’s evolution. The road ahead might be riddled with challenges, but Tesla is showing a willingness to ride out the shocks to the system in a manner that betrays the company’s confidence in its India foray.
