The Indian automotive market is set for a thrilling ride in 2025, with several brands launching their latest innovations. From high-performance electric roadsters to iconic hot hatches, these upcoming cars promise to redefine the Indian driving experience. Let’s dive into the most exciting upcoming models that deserve your attention.
The BYD Sealion 7, which made its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, is scheduled for launch on February 17, with bookings already open at a token amount of Rs 70,000. BYD is offering early buyers an extensive 7-year/1.5 lakh km warranty along with a free 7 kW home charger for the first 70 customers.
The Sealion 7 will be available in two variants: the Premium RWD and the Performance AWD. Powered by an 82.56 kWh battery, the Premium RWD delivers 313 HP and a range of 567 km, while the Performance AWD boasts an impressive 530 HP with a range of 542 km. Positioned to rival the BMW iX1 and Kia EV6, the Sealion 7 is set to make a significant impact in the EV market.
Another much-anticipated launch is the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, the brand’s first fully electric SUV. Unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the eVitara will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant and sold in international markets such as Japan and Europe.
The design showcases a futuristic approach with 3-point Matrix LED DRLs, aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, and active air vents. Inside, it offers a premium experience with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and a floating center console. Safety is a priority with features like a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, and ADAS. The eVitara will be offered with two battery options: a 49 kWh battery and a larger 61 kWh pack, providing a range of up to 500 km on a single charge.
Adding a touch of performance and luxury to the EV segment, the MG Cyberster is an electric roadster inspired by the classic MG B Roadster. Developed under the expertise of former Formula One engineer Marco Fainello, the Cyberster promises a thrilling drive with a dual-motor setup generating 503 bhp and 725 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds. The motors utilize advanced technology such as 8-layer flat wire winding and waterfall oil cooling to ensure consistent performance. The energy is stored in a slimmed-down 77 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 450 km.
Audi is also set to make waves with the Q6 e-tron, its first model built on VW Group’s new premium platform electric (PPE) architecture. The SUV sports an elegant yet modern design with striking LED lighting elements. The interior is tech-laden, featuring an 11.9-inch instrument panel, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and a separate passenger touchscreen. The Q6 e-tron will be available in two Quattro AWD variants: the Q6 and the sportier SQ6. The SQ6 delivers 517 hp, reaching 0-100 kmph in 4.3 seconds, while the Q6 offers 387 hp and completes the sprint in 5.9 seconds. Both variants are powered by a 100 kWh battery, offering a WLTP range of 625 km for the Q6 and 598 km for the SQ6. The India launch is expected by the end of this year or early next year, positioning the Q6 e-tron between the Volvo XC40, BMW iX1, and the larger Q8 e-tron.
Performance enthusiasts will be thrilled with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, set to arrive in India in August 2025. This iconic hot hatch will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the government’s homologation-free import scheme. Under the hood, the latest Golf GTI houses a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 261 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. The car features a seven-speed dual-shift gearbox (DSG) that channels power to the front wheels, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. Volkswagen has also enhanced the steering mechanism with a variable-ratio system and an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock. Adaptive suspension remains an optional add-on for buyers.
Skoda is set to make a bold statement with the new-generation Octavia RS, which retains its signature performance-oriented design, featuring RS badging, body-colored accents, and RS-specific upholstery. Inside, the cabin exudes sportiness with carbon fiber inserts and unique RS graphics on the infotainment screen. Powering the Octavia RS is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine tuned to deliver 264 bhp and 370 Nm. Mated to a seven-speed DSG, this performance sedan accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 6.4 seconds, cementing its status as one of the fastest front-wheel-drive cars in the world.
Homegrown manufacturer Tata Motors is making a strong push into the EV space with the Tata Sierra EV, one of the most anticipated electric SUVs in the Indian market. Slated for launch before March 2026, the Sierra EV will be priced between Rs 25-30 lakh. Initially revealed as a concept at Auto Expo 2020, the Sierra EV has since evolved into a more production-ready version showcased at Auto Expo 2023. Built on Tata’s ALFA platform, it embraces a rugged yet modern design with a high-set bonnet, squarish wheel arches, and signature curved rear-side windows reminiscent of the original Sierra from the 1990s.
The Sierra EV will feature Tata’s Gen2 EV platform, and its production model is expected to retain key design elements, including a slim LED strip across the front and rear. With a comfortable five-seater configuration, AWD capability, and futuristic interior elements, the Sierra EV aims to capture the hearts of Indian buyers looking for a premium electric SUV.
With cutting-edge technology, stunning designs, and electrification at the core, these upcoming models are set to revolutionize the Indian auto industry. Whether you’re an EV enthusiast or a speed freak, there’s something on this list for everyone!
