Mumbai’s transportation landscape just got a major upgrade! The highly anticipated Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, has officially opened its doors to the public today. This landmark service, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the city’s first underground metro line, seamlessly connecting the bustling Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Aarey Colony via JVLR.

A Game Changer for Commuters

Spanning 33.5 km, with an initial public stretch of 12.44 km, the Metro Line 3 promises to enhance daily life for Mumbaikars, cutting down travel time and easing road congestion. Modi celebrated the launch on X, stating, “The metro network in Mumbai has expanded, boosting the ease of life for citizens!”

Key Highlights

Stations: The line features 10 stations.

Timing : Runs from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekdays and 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekends.

Fares: Affordable pricing ranging from ₹10 to ₹50, with tickets available via an app or at counters.

Capacity: Each train can accommodate over 2,000 passengers, with 96 daily trips planned.

Speed: Maximum operational speed of 85 km/h, average running speed at 35 km/h.

Future Ready

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 is projected to be fully operational by June 2025, with an anticipated reduction of 6.5 lakh vehicular trips daily. Plus, the National Common Mobility Card will soon provide a unified payment method for all metro lines, enhancing convenience for commuters.
