Air India Elevates In-flight Experience with Wi-Fi and New A350 Cabins

Air India is poised to elevate in-flight experience with the introduction of Wi-Fi services, starting with its Airbus A350 aircraft on the Delhi to London Heathrow route. On September 2, Air India officially announced the launch of its A350-900 service between Delhi and London Heathrow. This move is part of what the airline describes as an “ambitious transformation journey”, with the new service operating twice daily.

The A350 boasts 28 luxurious private suites with full-flat beds in business class, 24 premium economy seats, and 264 seats in the economy class. Significantly, Air India plans to introduce onboard Wi-Fi soon, beginning with the A350 flights on the Delhi-London route.

Replacing the currently deployed Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the A350-900 will now operate 14 of the 17 weekly flights on this route, resulting in an additional 336 seats available each week.

This development follows a recent social media buzz where a video showcasing Air India’s new business class cabin went viral. Shankar Sharma, Founder of GQuant and First Global, shared the video on platform X, commending the new cabin’s design. He highlighted the spacious individual cubicles, the extensive flat-seat length suitable even for taller passengers and praised the food and wine selection. Sharma suggested that these upgrades could pose a significant challenge to the high fares charged by West Asian airlines.

In a related update, Tata SIA Airlines has announced the finalization of Vistara’s merger with Air India. Flights scheduled after November 11, 2024, can now be booked through the Vistara platform until September 3, 2024, marking a new chapter for both airlines.

As Air India embarks on this transformative journey, passengers can look forward to enhanced comfort and connectivity on their flights, signaling a promising future for the airline under its new management.
