Zen Tech’s game-changing ‘Made in India’ defence robots 

Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies, a leader in anti-drone technology and defence training solutions, has announced a suite of groundbreaking products set to redefine modern warfare. In collaboration with its subsidiary AI Turing Technologies, Zen Technologies introduced several advanced systems for the global defence market, marking a significant milestone in India’s Make in India initiative. 

Among the new offerings is Prahasta, an AI-powered robotic quadruped designed to revolutionize mission planning and threat assessment. Equipped with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology and reinforcement learning algorithms, Prahasta can generate real-time 3D terrain maps. This capability enhances navigation and situational awareness, providing superior support in complex environments. 

Zen Technologies also unveiled the Hawkeye anti-drone camera system, which promises unparalleled precision in detecting and neutralizing drone threats. The system’s advanced optics and sensor technologies are expected to bolster defence forces’ capabilities in safeguarding critical infrastructures. 

The launch of the Barbarik-URCWS, claimed to be the world’s lightest remote-controlled weapon station, is another highlight. Designed for use on ground vehicles and naval vessels, Barbarik-URCWS offers precise targeting for calibers ranging from 5.56 mm to 7.62 mm. This innovation aims to maximize battlefield effectiveness while minimizing the risk to personnel, embodying the future of unmanned combat operations. 

Completing the lineup is the Sthir Stab 640, a durable stabilized sight designed for armored vehicles, infantry combat vehicles (ICVs), and boats. This system ensures accuracy and reliability in various operational scenarios, further strengthening the capabilities of defence forces. 

These innovations from Zen Technologies not only showcase the company’s technological prowess but also highlight the growing importance of integrating advanced robotics and AI into defence operations. As India’s defence production reaches a record high of approximately ₹1.27 lakh crore in 2023-24, these new products underscore the significant strides made under the Make in India programme.  

Zen Technologies’ achievements reflect a broader trend towards modernization and self-reliance in India’s defence sector. The introduction of these cutting-edge systems is expected to raise awareness about the critical need for advanced robotics in combat and reconnaissance missions. 

The market responded positively to Zen Technologies’ announcements. Shares of the company settled at ₹1,362.00 apiece on the BSE on Monday, marking a 5 percent increase from the previous close. This surge indicates strong investor confidence in the company’s innovative direction and its potential impact on the defence industry.
