CM Devendra Fadnavis Pays Tribute to Educationist Dr. D. Y. Patil

Mumbai, August 4: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed profound grief over the demise of Padma Shri Dr. D. Y. Patil, describing his passing as the loss of a towering figure whose lifelong contributions to education, cooperation, social service, and public life transformed countless lives.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said Dr. Patil devoted his entire life to the pursuit of knowledge and the advancement of education. From establishing a small school, he built a vast educational network comprising nearly 200 institutions, eight universities, and thousands of students. His initiatives in medical, engineering, pharmacy, architecture, and other professional education significantly strengthened Maharashtra’s reputation and expanded access to quality healthcare and education.
Fadnavis noted that Dr. Patil also served twice as an MLA and held the office of Governor of Bihar, West Bengal, and Tripura. He described him as a visionary institution builder whose legacy includes landmark projects such as the Dr. D. Y. Patil International Stadium.
The Chief Minister said Dr. Patil upheld the values of education, service, humility, and social commitment throughout his life. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his ideals and contributions will continue to inspire generations. Fadnavis also extended his heartfelt condolences to Dr. Patil’s family, colleagues, and the institutions associated with him, praying for strength to all those mourning his loss.
