Abhishek Pathak Takes Charge as Chief Content Officer at Tata Play
He moves into the role after 15 years with the company, with nearly two decades of experience across media, entertainment and OTT.
Tata Play has named Abhishek Pathak as Chief Content Officer. Pathak announced the role in a LinkedIn post, thanking the people who have been part of his journey.
He has nearly 20 years of experience across consumer businesses, the internet, media and entertainment, OTT, television, content and strategy. At Tata Play, he has worked across several parts of the business, with a focus on content and brand development.
Earlier career
Before the Chief Content Officer role, Pathak was at the Tata Group as Senior Manager, Brand, managing the corporate brand function from February 2008 to July 2011. Earlier, he worked at Nicholas Piramal India Limited.
Why it matters
Television and OTT are both dealing with shifting viewer preferences, changing content habits and tougher competition across digital platforms. Pathak’s background in both traditional television and digital entertainment is expected to matter as Tata Play strengthens its content offering across platforms. After 15 years at the company, he is also among its longest-serving leaders. The source does not describe his priorities in the new role.
