Not just Sindhi! Did you know Kiara Advani has Scottish and Irish roots?

Kiara Advani is among the leading stars in the Hindi film industry, but her story goes well beyond just acting. She might be known to many as the daughter of Jagdeep Advani, a Sindhi entrepreneur, but very few would know about the roots that she comes from on her mother’s side of the family.
Kiara was born with the name Alia Advani, and she hails from a family that is a blend of Indian and European ancestry. Her mother, Genevieve Jaffrey, has a background of Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, and Spanish ancestry, while the maternal grandfather of Kiara is from Lucknow. This unique combination makes her quite an interesting person.
Kiara also has relations with some of the great names in the Indian film industry. The legendary Sayeed Jaffrey is one of her great granduncles along with the legendary actor Ashok Kumar being part of her family.
The story of Kiara’s career in cinema would not be complete without Salman Khan being involved in the making of her new identity. As per reports, Salman suggested Kiara to replace her original name Alia before she made her entry in Bollywood industry as Alia Bhatt was already making waves in the industry using her name Alia. Kiara accepted the name after Priyanka Chopra’s Anjaana Anjaani character.
Kiara’s journey to success is amazing in itself owing to her mixed ancestry and connections with elite Bollywood families, but what made her the star today are the notable performances she gave in Kabir Singh, Shershaah, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and various projects that Kiara is engaged in.
Kiara Advani will be next seen in the highly anticipated film, Toxic. Written, produced and headlined by Yash, the film is directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film stars Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles. Toxic is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 26th August 2026.
