Angel One Founder Dinesh Thakkar Buys Juhu Tower for ₹711 Cr

Mumbai’s luxury real estate market has produced another extraordinary deal, with Angel One founder, chairman, and managing director Dinesh Thakkar agreeing to buy an entire residential tower in Juhu for approximately ₹711 crore

The tower is part of Embassy Developments’ ultra-luxury Embassy Terrazza project on Juhu Tara Road. The developer has signed a memorandum of understanding with Thakkar for the transaction, which it describes as India’s largest single residential unit deal.

The residence comprises an entire G+7-storey tower with a RERA carpet area of 63,000 sq ft. At the reported transaction value, that works out to more than ₹1.1 lakh per sq ft on the stated carpet area.

Thakkar has named the residence ‘Angelus’. According to Embassy Developments, the home is being designed around privacy, expansive spaces, and sea views, with the intention of making it a family home.

“Juhu has always had a special character that very few locations in Mumbai can match,” Thakkar is reported to have said, adding that his search focused on privacy, spaciousness, sea views, and creating a long-term family residence.

For Thakkar, the purchase marks a significant personal real estate investment. Reports note that he had historically preferred renting rather than buying property, making the ₹711-crore acquisition particularly notable.

The deal also comes against the backdrop of sustained demand at the very top end of Mumbai’s housing market. Prime neighbourhoods such as Juhu, Worli, Bandra, and South Mumbai have increasingly seen transactions involving individual residences worth tens or hundreds of crores, as wealthy buyers place a premium on limited inventory, location, privacy, and large-format homes.

For Embassy Developments, the transaction provides an early high-value marker for its Mumbai residential strategy. The company has been expanding its presence in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with projects including Embassy Citadel in Worli and Embassy Serenity in Alibaug.

The ₹711-crore Juhu purchase is therefore more than a headline-grabbing property transaction. It illustrates how Mumbai’s ultra-luxury residential market is evolving towards increasingly private, low-density developments, where the definition of a “home” can extend to an entire tower.
