As an economic powerhouse destined to “new-mould the life of the world,” India, poised to become the third-largest economy by 2030, must transition to a services, manufacturing, and knowledge hub, leveraging its demographic dividend to realize the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Abhyudaya, ISB PGP PRO’s flagship conclave, looked at exactly this. Launched in 2019 with a core objective of facilitating learning from industry leaders and eminent academicians as well as networking, the 6th edition of this annual event contributed to the deliberations around global welfare and development by engaging with business, government, and society through Keynote speeches, panel discussions, fire-side chat, case-study competitions, and many engaging activities.
The panel discussions, such as ‘India 2047: Global & National Landscape’, ‘Future of Work’, and ‘Entrepreneur/ Investors Insights’, offered much food for thought. Equally pertinent was a stirring debate on ‘India’s Education: Shaping 2047’s Talent Pool’, a topic no doubt close to the hearts of those in the audience. In addition, the case study competition provided fascinating insights and ideas, many of them off the beaten path.
India’s talent pool represents a generational opportunity, but also a significant challenge. The only way to maximise the potential of India’s young workforce is to fully leverage the creative energies of young India and equip them with the skills, frameworks, and opportunities to paint a picture of a better tomorrow. There is no doubt in this writer’s mind that the enthusiasm, spirit, and imagination of those in attendance at Abhyudaya 2024 sees India in safe hands, with the nation well on its way to achieving the vision of inclusive, sustainable economic growth that will benefit generations of Indians (and indeed global citizens) to the fullest.
