The Grand Tour: End of the Road for Clarkson, May, and Hammond
For those of a certain age, they would almost certainly remember Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond power the adventures of the then newly-rebooted Top Gear. But even in their wildest dreams, one is fairly certain that the trio never saw the wild adulation and globe-trotting adventures that they would embark on over 20 years or so. And now, the story has come full circle, with the troika calling it a day and ending it all as only they can with the final episode of The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime Video. With an epic road trip into the heart of Africa, and doubtlessly full of laughs, car-based shenanigans, and a general sense of “what could possibly go wrong”?
Top Gear was, at its zenith, the most-watched show in the world. And while we all knew the journey would come to an end at some point or another (as it very nearly did with Hammond’s fiery crash that nearly claimed his life in 2006, or with the feisty controversy that saw Clarkson ousted from the BBC in 2015), one cannot help but be a bit misty-eyed to see the boys drive off into the sunset. Most car nuts will definitely miss the greatest show…in the world.
Happy binge-watching!
