Head of Amazon India, Manish Tiwary, resigns from post

Manish Tiwary, the Vice President and Country Manager of Amazon India, has announced his decision to step down and pursue a new opportunity outside the company. This departure marks one of the most significant changes in Amazon India’s leadership in recent times.

Tiwary, who has been with Amazon since May 2016, played a crucial role in shaping the company’s presence in India. Prior to joining Amazon, he spent two decades at Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), where he started as a brand manager for Ponds in 1996. His leadership at Amazon has been instrumental in making Amazon.in a leading marketplace in India.

During his tenure, Tiwary helped deliver exceptional results for both customers and sellers, contributing significantly to Amazon’s success in the region. Amazon confirmed Tiwary’s departure in a statement that didn’t name a successor.  To ensure a smooth transition, Tiwary will remain with Amazon until October.

With Tiwary’s departure, Amazon India will not immediately appoint a new leader. Instead, the current team will collaborate closely with Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets, as the company continues to focus on expanding its cloud business in India.
