Travel influencer falls to her death at Kumbhe Waterfall while making a Reel 

The travel community is mourning the loss of Aanvi Kamdar, a 27-year-old travel influencer who tragically fell to her death while filming an Instagram Reel at the Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Known for her captivating travel stories under the Instagram handle @theglocaljournal, Kamdar was also a chartered accountant.  

The accident occurred on July 16 during a day trip with seven friends. Kamdar slipped and fell into a 300-foot gorge while attempting to capture the scenic beauty of the waterfall. Her friends immediately alerted local authorities, prompting a swift response from the Mangaon police, Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff. 

The rescue operation was challenging due to the treacherous terrain and heavy rainfall. Despite their best efforts, it took the rescue team six hours to reach and extract Kamdar from the gorge. She was rushed to the Mangaon taluka government hospital but, tragically, succumbed to her injuries during treatment. 

Kamdar’s untimely death serves as a poignant reminder of the risks associated with adventure travel and the importance of safety measures, especially during the monsoon season. Waterfalls, while breathtakingly beautiful, can be perilous due to slippery rocks and sudden changes in water flow. 

Authorities urge the public to exercise caution when visiting natural sites and to be aware of the dangers posed by the monsoon rains. This tragic incident highlights the need for safety awareness and responsible behavior to prevent such accidents in the future.
