Meet Padma Shri Awardee Dr. KS Rajanna

In a heartening ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the prestigious Padma Shri upon Dr. KS Rajanna, a beacon of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Despite losing his arms and legs to polio during childhood, Rajanna’s unwavering spirit has been an inspiration to many.

A touching moment captured during the event showed Dr. Rajanna’s interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring his remarkable journey. BJP MP Tejasvi Surya shared the video, praising Rajanna’s indomitable spirit and his journey from overcoming physical challenges to achieving remarkable feats.

Dr. Rajanna’s refusal of assistance from a soldier during the event epitomized his independence and determination. Despite his physical limitations, he has not only achieved personal success but has also become a beacon of hope for others. As an entrepreneur, he has created employment opportunities for numerous individuals, particularly those with disabilities, empowering them to lead independent lives.

Who is Dr. KS Rajanna?

Hailing from Bengaluru, Karnataka, Dr. KS Rajanna faced adversity at an early age when he lost his limbs to polio. However, his resilience knew no bounds as he learned to walk on his knees, turning his challenges into sources of inspiration. Alongside his social work, Rajanna holds a diploma in mechanical engineering and has even clinched a gold medal at the Paralympics. Through his entrepreneurial endeavours, he has become a catalyst for change, providing opportunities for hundreds of Persons with Disabilities to thrive in society.

Padma Awards: Recognizing Service to Society

The Padma Awards ceremony celebrated the extraordinary contributions of 132 individuals across various fields. Notable awardees included Vyjayantimala Bali, Konidela Chiranjeevi, former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, M Fathima Beevi, Hormusji N Cama, Mithun Chakraborty, Usha Uthup, and Kaluram Bamaniya, among others, highlighting their exceptional service to society.
