Mumbai, the financial capital of India, has introduced a new BEST Chalo Airport Express on its largest sealink, ‘the trans harbour route’, AKA, Atal Setu bridge and other routes over the Mumbai, in order to enhance the transportation within the city. It was launched on February 7th, with the intention of saving passengers time to travel from or to the airport without any challenges.

In a recent development, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has initiated a trial involving bus enthusiasts and experts to gather feedback and reviews. This move underscores BEST’s commitment to refining the route and fare structure.

Additionally, the inauguration of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, a 6-lane trans-harbour sea link linking Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, marks a significant milestone in the region’s transportation infrastructure.

Following the completion of successful test runs, the new service is now up and running on four different routes, with more routes set to be added soon. Providing 230 daily trips to and from Mumbai Airport, the Airport Express is poised to expand its operations in the coming months.

In a bid to revolutionise public transportation, the recently launched buses are set to further the commitment to sustainable commuting in Mumbai. It will do so by adhering to international service benchmarks commonly found at top airports, as half of its buses are already electric, and there’s a target to switch entirely to electric buses by March 2024. With a commitment to providing effortless airport connectivity, these buses are expected to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers in the city.

Lastly, the Shiv Sena Leader Milind Deogra endorsed MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) to have ‘A priority lane’ on the newly opened sea link. In all, these measures are set to provide relief to commuters.
