Addiction-Free Pledge Campaign Launched in Mumbai by Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha

Brahma Kumaris Launch Nationwide Resolve to Administer Addiction-Free Pledge to 100 Million Citizens

Mumbai, August 5, 2026: The Mumbai chapter of the nationwide “10 Crore Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign”, being conducted by the Brahma Kumaris across India, was inaugurated today at Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan (Byculla Zoo) by Maharashtra’s Minister for Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha. The programme was organized on the occasion of the 25th Punyasmriti (death anniversary) of Rajyogini Dadi Prakashmani and was attended by several dignitaries.

Launching the campaign, Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha said, “It is the need of the hour to transform Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s call for a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ into a nationwide people’s movement. Building an addiction-free India cannot be achieved by the government, police or administration alone. Only through the active participation of every citizen and spiritual organizations like the Brahma Kumaris can the pledge of an addiction-free life reach 100 million people.”

He further said, “Today, wars against the nation are not fought only at the borders. Attempts are also being made to weaken our country by pushing the younger generation towards addiction. Just as counterfeit currency, social unrest and disorder pose threats to the nation, addiction is equally dangerous. At such a time, organizations that instill values, inner strength and positive thinking in society become a protective shield for the nation.”

Referring to the appeal made by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji to transform the fight against addiction into a mass movement across Maharashtra, Shri Lodha said, “The message of an addiction-free society must reach every school, college and community. Social and spiritual organizations should actively participate in the de-addiction committees constituted by the government. The Brahma Kumaris should continue creating awareness among students, parents and teachers by conducting outreach programmes in schools and colleges. The Government of Maharashtra will extend its full support to this mission.”

The campaign will be conducted across the country from August 6 to August 20, 2026, with the objective of administering the addiction-free pledge to 100 million citizens. Through Rajyoga meditation, awareness programmes in schools and colleges, community outreach initiatives and various public engagement activities, the campaign aims to spread the message of an addiction-free India to every section of society.

Concluding his address, Shri Lodha said, “An addiction-free India is not merely a government programme; it is the responsibility of every citizen. Every individual should pledge to remain free from addiction and inspire their family members, friends and society to do the same. Only through public participation can we build a healthy, empowered and addiction-free India.”
