Ramayana trailer review: Yash roars, Ranbir underwhelms in parts, but where is Sunny Deol’s Hanuman?

The much-anticipated trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has finally been released, and while one should expect an epic cinematic spectacle, the reality is slightly different. Sure, the making of the trailer is definitely one of the most important films of the decade, but there are some performances which steal the show.

One of the big names in the trailer is Yash as Ravana. Due to limited presence on screen, Yash manages to capture audience’s attention through his strong character expressed in his dramatic actions and enormous charisma. The character seems very serious in every frame, and Yash turned out to be the brightest star of the show.

At the same time, Ram played by Ranbir Kapoor brings contradictory feelings. On the one hand, the actor looks quite convincing in some episodes of action and emotional scenes, while on the other hand his dialogues sometimes do not achieve the desired effect. The character is not that disappointing, but it surely does not create a significant impression.

Ramayana is really good when it comes to technical front. The production design, cinematography and VFX show the filmmakers’ desire to create a blockbuster movie. Even the special effects, color grading and creature designs have improved a lot comparing to the previous teaser, proving that the filmmakers take into consideration the feedback from the audience.

However, the biggest surprise is the fact that the trailer does not show Sunny Deol’s Hanuman at all. Even though he is considered to be one of the most anticipated characters of the film, viewers do not see him in the trailer at all. The absence of this iconic character led to long discussions in the online community since many fans wondered why Hanuman was not featured in the trailer. Some sources unofficially say that the filmmakers decided to postpone bringing him to the public to maintain interest to a following sequel.

All in all, Ramayana manages to impress the audience with its ambition and ambition, giving the fans a brief insight at the perspective of Nitesh Tiwari. While Yash proves to be the brightest point of the trailer, Ranbir’s role leaves the audience with mixed feelings.
