L’Oréal Names Manashi Guha MD for Malaysia and Singapore

L’Oréal’s elevation of Manashi Guha to Country Managing Director for Malaysia and Singapore reflects the value of leadership experience built across markets, business functions, and consumer segments. With more than 18 years at the beauty major, Guha takes charge of two complementary Southeast Asian markets at a time when beauty companies must balance global brand strength with local consumer understanding and increasingly digital routes to market.

Announced on October 14, the appointment marks another step in Guha’s international career at L’Oréal. She most recently served as Chief Growth Officer for L’Oréal UK and Ireland, having previously led its Consumer Products Division in the UK and Ireland. She assumed the Malaysia-Singapore leadership role effective September 1, 2026, succeeding Tomas Hruska, who moved to become General Manager of L’Oréal Poland and the Baltics.

A career shaped across markets

Guha began her career with L’Oréal in India in 2008, progressing through sales and marketing roles before taking on leadership responsibilities in the company’s Consumer Products Division. Her subsequent assignments in Malaysia and Indonesia gave her direct experience of two distinct Southeast Asian markets, while her regional role as general manager of Consumer Products across the South Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa (SAPMENA) zone broadened her perspective considerably.

In that position, she oversaw 15 subsidiaries across a diverse region, working across different consumer markets and business environments. Her move to the UK in 2023 as Managing Director of the Consumer Products Division added experience in a more mature beauty market, including omnichannel expansion and social commerce, before she progressed to the Chief Growth Officer role.

The breadth of this experience gives Guha a combination of local market familiarity and regional operating perspective. It also places her in a position to connect brand strategy, distribution, marketing, and consumer engagement across markets with different needs and levels of maturity.

Building on two complementary markets

Malaysia and Singapore offer L’Oréal distinct but complementary opportunities. Malaysia provides scale and nationwide consumer reach, while Singapore serves as a regional business and innovation hub. Bringing the two markets under a common leadership structure creates scope to share best practices, strengthen operational synergies, and respond more effectively to changing consumer behaviour.

For beauty companies, these capabilities are increasingly important. Consumer discovery and purchasing are shaped by a mix of retail experiences, e-commerce, social platforms, and creator-led recommendations. Success depends on translating brand equity into locally relevant experiences while maintaining consistency across a broad portfolio.

Guha’s background in consumer products, marketing, and growth makes this a natural area of focus. Her experience across emerging and established markets could also help the business identify opportunities to adapt successful strategies to different consumer groups and channels.

The strategic value of internal leadership

The appointment highlights how multinational companies can develop leadership talent by moving executives across geographies and functions. Such experience builds an understanding of how global strategy interacts with local execution, particularly in consumer-facing industries where preferences, purchasing power, and distribution structures vary widely.

For L’Oréal, Guha’s elevation offers continuity alongside a fresh perspective shaped by her recent UK experience. For Guha, it represents a return to Southeast Asia with a broader leadership remit and responsibility for aligning two markets around their respective strengths.

The challenge now is to convert that experience into sustained growth, stronger market execution, and closer connections with consumers. In a beauty industry being reshaped by digital discovery and shifting expectations, the ability to combine regional scale with local insight will be central to the next phase of L’Oréal’s Malaysia-Singapore business.
