NCP Protests Against Congress for Second Consecutive Day Over Remarks Against Sunetra Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, August 5: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) staged a silent protest for the second consecutive day against the Congress, with party leaders and workers gathering before the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Mumbai. The demonstration was led by Mumbai Working President Siddharth Kamble.

The protest follows an alleged derogatory remark made against NCP National President and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on a Congress social media handle. The NCP has demanded an apology from the Congress over the post.

A day earlier, NCP workers had protested during a press conference addressed by Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal at Gandhi Bhavan. As no apology was issued, the party intensified its protest on Wednesday by holding a silent demonstration, wearing black armbands and carrying copies of the Constitution.

Among those present were NCP leader and MLA Sana Malik-Sheikh, State Women’s Wing President Vaishali Nagwade, senior leader Surekha Thakre, Mumbai Working President Siddharth Kamble, Youth State President Nikhil Thakre, State General Secretary Santosh Dhuvali, Office Secretary Sanjay Tatkare, South Mumbai District President Mahendra Pansare, Cooperative Cell President Nandkumar Katkar, senior leader Bapu Bhujbal, along with district presidents, women office-bearers, party workers, and other NCP functionaries.
