NCMC Smart Card Deadline Extended Till September 1

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik Extends Deadline to Avoid Inconvenience to Senior Citizens and Women

Mumbai, July 29: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has extended the deadline for making NCMC Smart Cards mandatory for availing various travel concessions in ST buses till September 1. The decision was taken by Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik to ensure that senior citizens and women who have not yet received their smart cards do not face any inconvenience.

The state government provides free travel benefits to Amrut senior citizens and 50% fare concessions to senior citizens and women. To make these benefits more transparent, convenient, and technology-driven, the NCMC Smart Card was scheduled to become mandatory from August 1.

However, despite registration, many eligible passengers are yet to receive their cards. Taking note of the issue, Minister Sarnaik decided to extend the implementation deadline so that no eligible passenger is deprived of benefits due to technical or procedural delays.

Sarnaik said the ST travel concession scheme is meant for public convenience and no senior citizen or woman should suffer due to the delay in receiving the smart card. He appealed to eligible passengers to complete the NCMC Smart Card process at the earliest during the extended period.
