State Lokayukta Submits 2025 Report to Maharashtra Governor

Mumbai, July 13: Maharashtra Lokayukta Justice V. M. Kanade (Retd.) on Monday presented the 53rd Annual Consolidated Report on the functioning of the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta for the year 2025 to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

According to the Lokayukta office, 8,547 fresh complaints were received during 2025. Of these, 3,869 complaints were not registered as they were either copies of applications submitted to other authorities or unsigned submissions. As a result, 4,678 fresh complaints were officially registered.

The office also carried forward 4,287 pending cases from the previous year, taking the total number of cases available for disposal in 2025 to 8,965. During the year, 4,885 registered cases were disposed of, leaving 4,080 cases pending at the end of 2025.

The Lokayukta office stated that the institution has played a significant role in addressing citizens’ grievances over the past five decades. It added that more than 82.71% of complaints were resolved to the satisfaction of the complainants, highlighting the institution’s continued commitment to ensuring accountability and effective grievance redressal in the state.
