Elvish Yadav arrested in Noida snake venom case

Elvish Yadav, winner of Bigg Boss OTT, has reportedly confessed to arranging snakes and snake venom at rave parties he organized, according to police sources. Yadav, who was arrested in connection with the snake venom case, also admitted to knowing the other accused arrested for supplying snake venom last year, the sources said. Yadav has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody following his arrest.

Facing charges under the Wildlife Act, Yadav now also faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Section 29 of the stringent law, invoked against him, deals with drug-related conspiracies such as buying and selling, for which bail is not easily granted. Yadav is also accused of using snakes in his video shoots. He had previously told the police that the snakes seen in his videos were arranged by Bollywood singer Fazilpuria, according to sources.

The 26-year-old YouTuber, who had previously denied involvement in the snake venom controversy, confessed during questioning that he had met the accused at various rave parties and had been in contact with them, sources added.

Earlier, the police arrested five people in this case after raiding a banquet hall in Noida, four of whom were snake charmers. Additionally, nine snakes and snake venom were seized from the party. The raid was conducted following a complaint by an NGO member who had set a trap and contacted Yadav for snake venom. The NGO member was given a phone number that led to the five accused, the police said.
