Yes Madam, a doorstep beauty service platform, is under fire for allegedly terminating over 100 employees who reported significant workplace stress in an in-office survey. A screenshot of an email from the company’s HR manager announcing the decision has gone viral, sparking outrage on social media.
The controversy began when the company conducted a mental health survey to gauge employee stress levels. Following the survey, several employees were abruptly terminated via email, with the decision being “effective immediately.”
The email read, “Dear Team, Recently, we conducted a survey to understand your feelings about stress at work. Many of you shared your concerns, which we deeply value and respect. As a company committed to fostering a healthy and supportive work environment, we have carefully considered the feedback. To ensure that no one remains stressed at work, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with employees who indicated significant stress.
This decision is effective immediately, and impacted employees will receive further details separately. Thank you for your contributions.”
The email and termination move were highlighted in a LinkedIn post by Anushka Dutta, a UX copywriter at Yes Madam. She expressed her disbelief, writing “What’s happening at Yes Madam? First, you conduct a random survey and then fire us overnight because we’re feeling stressed? And not just me 100 other people have been fired too.”
The post quickly garnered attention, with many users criticizing the company for its decision. Some labeled the act as inhumane and reflective of a toxic work culture, while others speculated that it could be a PR stunt.
One LinkedIn user commented, “This is the most inhumane way to lay off people, Yes Madam. Pretending to care with a ‘Stress Survey’ and then firing employees based on it is shocking. It speaks volumes about the toxic culture of your company. If true, I hope people boycott your brand as employees and customers. And if it’s a PR stunt, it’s still distasteful, there are better ways to trend.”
