Congress Demands Gadkari’s Resignation Over E20 Fuel Policy, Alleges ‘Major Scam’

Mumbai, August 3, 2026: Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal on Monday alleged that the Centre’s E20 (20% ethanol-blended petrol) policy is a “major scam” and demanded the resignation of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari over the issue.

Addressing a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, Sapkal claimed that the rapid implementation of the E20 policy benefited a select group of individuals connected to the government while causing hardship to lakhs of vehicle owners. He alleged that several motorists have reported vehicle-related problems and accused the Union Government of pushing the policy ahead of its originally expected timeline.

Sapkal further alleged that complaints have surfaced about water contamination in fuel and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to the nation, alleging that consumers had been misled.

On the political front, Sapkal also targeted Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, claiming that efforts are underway to shift him to Delhi and alleging that the move is linked to implementing the RSS agenda. He further claimed that decisions such as the Hindi language policy were part of this larger plan and made several political allegations regarding the BJP and RSS.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Union Government, and the leaders named in Sapkal’s allegations have not responded to these claims at the time of filing this report.
