Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has praised Blinkit’s innovative 10-minute ambulance service launched in Gurugram, calling it a significant societal impact. In a recent social media post, Goyal shared his admiration, stating, “Quick is not just about groceries. Congratulations @albinder and team for thinking of societal impact, and bringing it to life with record speed. This is a world-first.”
Earlier this week, Blinkit, the quick-commerce platform acquired by Zomato, unveiled its 10-minute ambulance service to cater to emergencies in Gurugram. The service is poised for expansion to other major cities in the coming years. By leveraging Blinkit’s existing hyperlocal delivery infrastructure, the service promises to deliver swift, round-the-clock medical assistance. Trained medical professionals and fully equipped ambulances are on standby to respond to emergencies within 10 minutes.
Blinkit’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, took to social media to announce the launch, stating, “We are taking our first step toward solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance services in our cities. The first five ambulances are now operating in Gurugram. As we expand, users will be able to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance via the Blinkit app.”
Each ambulance is equipped with life-saving equipment such as oxygen cylinders, AEDs, stretchers, and essential emergency medicines. The service includes a paramedic, assistant, and trained driver for optimal care. Blinkit emphasized that the service will be offered at affordable rates, with no profit goal in mind, and will gradually scale up to other cities over the next two years.
Dhindsa expressed a deeper commitment to the cause, stating, “Our aim is to make this service widely available and truly solve the critical problem of quick ambulance response in urban areas.”
Goyal, reflecting on Blinkit’s achievement, highlighted that “quick” services extend far beyond commerce and into life-saving actions. He added, “So much more can happen in ‘quick’ and I believe this is just the beginning.”
