BMC Reviews Pedestrian Facilities Around Prabhadevi Railway Station

MUMBAI, AUGUST 18: As part of its ‘Pedestrian First’ campaign, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Prajakta Verma-Lavangare inspected Prabhadevi Railway Station and its surrounding areas on Tuesday to review ongoing works and measures aimed at ensuring safer and smoother movement for pedestrians and commuters.

During the inspection, she reviewed the proposed Foot Over Bridge (FOB), entry and exit routes, traffic arrangements and pedestrian safety. She directed officials to expedite construction of the proposed staircase for the existing pedestrian bridge and coordinate with Western Railway on the bridge alignment and landing requirements.

She also instructed authorities to remove unauthorised encroachments around the station, streamline shared taxi and taxi drop-off points, and reduce congestion. Comprehensive cleaning and resurfacing of approach roads were also directed.

Discussions were held on widening the station access route between Naman Midtown and Indiabulls Business Park, as well as a proposal for an ‘Aapla Davakhana’ in the station area.

Verma-Lavangare directed all concerned agencies to coordinate and complete the required measures on priority to provide pedestrians, railway passengers and citizens with safe, convenient and obstruction-free access.
