106 Samyukta Maharashtra Martyrs to Be Honoured

Mumbai: The names of 106 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the historic Samyukta Maharashtra movement will soon be inscribed in golden letters at the entrance of the newly acquired Air India building in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the Chief Secretary to initiate immediate action following a proposal by Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar.

The iconic building, currently undergoing rapid renovation, is expected to become an important administrative centre alongside Mantralaya. The tribute will honour the martyrs whose sacrifice played a crucial role in the formation of Maharashtra with Mumbai as its capital.

Minister Shelar said commemorating the martyrs at the heart of the state administration is a moral responsibility and will inspire future generations. The Directorate of Cultural Affairs will extend institutional support to ensure the memorial is completed in a manner befitting Maharashtra’s heritage and cultural pride.
