Ministry of Tourism Partners with Netflix to Promote India Through Storytelling

New Delhi: The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Netflix, has launched a unique initiative to promote India’s tourism by leveraging the global appeal of storytelling. The announcement was made during a special event celebrating a decade of Netflix in India at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi.

Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos discussed how films and series can inspire travel, strengthen cultural understanding, and enhance India’s global soft power.

A key highlight of the partnership is the integration of the “As Seen on Netflix” feature with the Incredible India digital platform. The initiative allows travellers to explore destinations across India featured in popular Netflix productions, encouraging visitors to experience the country’s landscapes, heritage, festivals, wildlife, and iconic filming locations.

Speaking at the event, Shekhawat said cinema is more than entertainment, describing it as a bridge connecting culture, heritage, and tourism. He added that authentic Indian stories have the power to inspire people worldwide to visit the country.

The event also featured a wildlife destination film jointly developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Netflix, along with a separate film showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. The collaboration aims to promote experiential and sustainable tourism while highlighting India’s diverse cultural and natural attractions to global audiences.
