Maharashtra to Launch State-Wide ‘Super 100’ Free NEET and JEE Coaching Initiative Across All Districts

Mumbai, August 5: The Maharashtra Government is drafting a major educational initiative aimed at empowering meritorious students from economically weaker sections and rural areas. Named ‘Super 100’, the program will establish fully residential government coaching centers across every district in the state to prepare talented students for competitive medical (NEET) and engineering (JEE) entrance examinations completely free of cost.

Under this scheme, the top 100 high-performing students from government schools in each district will be selected through a transparent entrance and eligibility test. The chosen candidates will receive two years of comprehensive academic preparation alongside free lodging, meals, books, and instructional materials. To support the required infrastructure, one prominent government school in each district will be upgraded to function as a designated coaching hub. The estimated cost of establishing and operating each center is approximately 1.15 crore, which will be funded through District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) grants. School Education Department officials are currently evaluating whether to partner with top private coaching institutes or rely on specialized government educators and resources to deliver the curriculum.

The project draws inspiration from mathematician Anand Kumar’s renowned ‘Super 30’ initiative launched in Patna in 2002, which gained national acclaim for helping underprivileged students crack prestigious engineering entrance exams. While regional pilot programs have previously taken place in Maharashtra such as a 45-day crash course organized by the Tribal Development Department in Gondia district in 2023, where over 20 students cleared JEE Advanced this initiative marks the state government’s first state-wide scale-up of the model. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and School Education Minister Dada Bhuse recently reviewed the proposal, which currently awaits final clearance from the Finance Department before execution begins.
