Ministry of Minority Affairs Adopts AI and Digital Technologies to Strengthen Citizen Services

New Delhi, August 5: The Ministry of Minority Affairs is leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced digital technologies to improve transparency, efficiency and effectiveness in implementing and monitoring its schemes and programmes. The initiative is aimed at strengthening digital governance and delivering more citizen-centric services.

The Ministry is exploring the use of sovereign AI solutions under the Government’s IndiaAI Mission, including AI-powered multilingual chatbots, virtual assistants and intelligent digital interfaces. These technologies are being considered for various services, including Haj-related initiatives such as the Haj Suvidha App and other digital platforms.

The Government’s IndiaAI Mission seeks to build a robust, inclusive and responsible AI ecosystem through seven key pillars, including AI compute infrastructure, foundation models, application development, future skills, datasets, safe AI and startup financing.

The Ministry stated that all AI-enabled initiatives comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable legal provisions to ensure privacy, data security, confidentiality and responsible use of AI.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that information related to AI Vision Centers for Minorities, including applications, approvals, funding and beneficiaries, is not maintained separately as these digital initiatives form part of the Ministry’s overall administration and monitoring framework.
