Vande metro to ‘Modi-fy’ city travel in Ahmedabad

India is all set to witness a transformative leap in its railway system with the launch of the highly anticipated Vande Metro, the country’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train. This revolutionary train, designed in line with the success of the Vande Bharat Express, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 16, marking yet another milestone in India’s ambitious infrastructure development.

Maximum Speed 200 Kmph

The Vande Metro is set to make intercity travel faster, smoother, and more comfortable, particularly for the daily commuters, students, and business travellers who frequently journey between medium-distance cities. Built with fully indigenous technology, the train will serve passengers between Bhuj and Ahmedabad, offering an alternative that significantly reduces travel time between cities separated by 150 to 200 kilo meters. What used to take up to 6.5 hours on fast trains will now be completed in 1.5 hours less, thanks to the Vande Metro’s speed and efficiency.

12 AC coaches and capacity of 1150 passengers

This state-of-the-art train comes with 12 air-conditioned coaches, each equipped with modern amenities to enhance the passenger experience. With a seating capacity of 1,150 people, the Vande Metro also allows standing passengers, just like in urban metro systems, which means more commuters can travel on each journey. The train is designed to run at a maximum speed of 110 km/h, offering a rapid yet comfortable ride across the medium distances it is intended to cover.

During its trial run on the Ahmedabad-Gandhidham route last week, the train successfully hit its top speed of 110 km/h, demonstrating its potential to dramatically improve travel times between regional cities. As the first of its kind, the Vande Metro is poised to become a game-changer for those who frequently commute between work and home, or travel for business and education.

Rs 1.2 per KM is the base fare

India’s first Vande Bharat Metro will operate between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Kutch, Gujarat. The minimum fare is ₹ 30 inclusive of GST while season tickets for a Weekly, Fortnightly and Monthly basis will be charged as per the fare table.

The Vande Metro is equipped with the Kavach safety system, designed to prevent collisions between trains. Furthermore, the train has an aerosol-based fire detection and suppression system, offering passengers peace of mind as they travel in one of India’s most advanced transportation vehicles.

Marksmen Daily’s View :

Following the success of the Vande Bharat Express, the Vande Metro is part of India’s larger push towards modernizing its transportation infrastructure. By reducing travel time and increasing comfort, it will help in boosting regional connectivity and ease pressure on road transport, by making daily commutes faster and more comfortable for workers, students, and businesspeople.
