  1. IndiaFirst Life Insurance Company ltd have announced new CDO’s Sumeet Sahni and Varun Gupta

IndiaFirst Life Insurance Company Ltd (IndiaFirst Life) has appointed Varun Gupta as President & Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) for Bancassurance and Sumeet Sahni as President & Chief Distribution Officer (CDO) for Agency & Alliances. These appointments are part of IndiaFirst Life’s strategy to enhance its distribution network in alignment with its growth objectives. 

Varun Gupta brings over 27 years of experience in business development, having held significant leadership positions at Max Life Insurance for more than 23 years. In his new role, Varun will lead IndiaFirst Life’s Bancassurance partnerships and cultivate new relationships to strengthen the distribution network. 

Sumeet Sahni, a seasoned professional in the life insurance sector with more than 26 years of experience, has previously served in key roles at Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, and Max Life Insurance. He has a proven track record of expanding agency and partnership channels, driving business growth, ensuring profitability, and managing large teams. At IndiaFirst Life, Sumeet will focus on developing the Agency & Alliances channel.

Quess Corp has appointed Gurmeet Chahal as the Chief Executive Officer of Quess GTS (Global Technology Solutions), a division that is undergoing demerger to become Digitide Solutions Ltd. 

Gurmeet brings over 25 years of experience in global digital transformation across various sectors such as healthcare, financial services, hi-tech, and manufacturing. His expertise spans AI, technology services, business process management, and digital transformation. 

Prior to joining Quess Corp, Gurmeet served as the leader of Digital Transformation Services at Genpact. He has also played pivotal roles in incubating, scaling, and managing significant technology transformation businesses at HCL Technologies and DXC.

  1. Mashreq Names Tushar Vikram, Citibank Veteran, as India’s Country Head and CEO

Mashreq, a prominent financial institution in the MENA region, has appointed Tushar Vikram as the new Country Head and CEO of India, effective from June 2024. With a career spanning three decades in business banking, Tushar will oversee Mashreq’s operations in India, shaping its strategic direction and fostering growth in the country.  

Prior to joining Mashreq, Tushar held the role of Group Head of Investment Banking at HDFC Bank, where he managed Project Finance, Equity, Debt Capital Markets, and M&A activities. 

During his tenure spanning 27 years at Citibank, Tushar held various key positions encompassing Commercial Banking, Investment and Structured Finance, Digitalization, Credit Processes, and Risk Management. 

With a solid background in investment banking, corporate finance, and strategic financial management, Tushar brings extensive expertise in navigating intricate financial environments and driving sustainable growth strategies. He earned his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Delhi University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

  1. CG Power and Industrial Solutions’ Board Endorses Amar Kaul as MD & CEO 

CG Power and Industrial Solutions announced on Monday that its board has given the green light to appoint Amar Kaul as the Managing Director and CEO of the company. Kaul’s appointment, effective from July 25, 2024, will span five years pending requisite approvals, according to the company’s filing with the exchange. 

Taking over from Natarajan Srinivasan, who has served as Managing Director since November 26, 2020, Kaul will succeed him upon his retirement on July 24, 2024. Kaul brings to the role a background in B.Tech (Mechanical), MS in Engineering Business Management, and Executive Leadership Programmes from Stanford University, along with over three decades of experience in leadership roles within large organizations.

PNB MetLife has named Mahendra Munot as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing customer engagement across all channels. With over twenty years of deep expertise in the life insurance sector, Mahendra has been integral to PNB MetLife since 2015, contributing to diverse leadership capacities, including overseeing technical operations as director.

At its board meeting held on July 10, 2024, Zee Media Corporation Limited approved the appointment of Mr. Karan Abhishek Singh as Chief Executive Officer (designated as Key Managerial Personnel) of the Company, effective from the same date pending necessary approvals. Mr. Singh brings over 22 years of professional experience spanning Media, Telecom, and FMCG sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Kumaon University (1999) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from NMIMS, Mumbai (2001). 

Mr. Singh’s expertise includes P&L Management, Sales and Channel management, revenue management, trade marketing, and key account management. Previously, he served as the Chief Executive Officer for Hindi News (TV & Digital) at Network 18 Media and Investments Limited, overseeing a portfolio of seven channels and digital platforms. He played a crucial role in launching a channel in Jammu & Kashmir.  

Before his tenure at Network 18, Mr. Singh held the position of EVP – Ad Sales at Star India (now Disney Star), where he led sales for the North and West markets and managed agency relationships.
