Partha Pratim Sengupta has officially taken over as the new Managing Director and CEO of Bandhan Bank, starting from Friday. Ratan Kumar Kesh, who served as interim MD & CEO following the retirement of Bandhan Bank’s founder Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, will now resume his role as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer with Sengupta’s appointment.

Sengupta brings substantial banking experience, having served as MD & CEO of Indian Overseas Bank from 2020 to 2022, with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approving his tenure at the state-owned lender. His career began with the State Bank of India, where he advanced to the position of Deputy Managing Director (DMD) at the nation’s largest bank.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Sengupta stated, “I am honored to join the Bandhan Bank family. My focus will be on enhancing customer-centric solutions, strengthening our business, fostering innovation, and making financial services more inclusive and sustainable. I look forward to working with the Bandhan Bank team to drive growth and deliver value for all stakeholders.”

Anup Kumar Sinha, Chairman of Bandhan Bank, added, “Sengupta’s proven track record in the industry will be instrumental in steering Bandhan Bank into its next growth phase.”
