As the startup sector in India gains momentum, Bengaluru emerges as the prime destination for job seekers, surpassing Mumbai, and Delhi. According to a study by Foundit Insights Tracker (FIT), Bengaluru claims a 31 percent share of startup jobs, with Delhi following closely at 23 percent and Mumbai at 18 percent.

The report highlights a shift towards fresh talent recruitment, with startups increasingly focusing on hiring newcomers, constituting 53 percent of job postings. Sekhar Garisa, CEO of Foundit, emphasized the importance of acquiring relevant skills for young professionals in this competitive market.

Moreover, the startup ecosystem is diversifying beyond metro cities, with non-metro locations emerging as entrepreneurial hotspots. The production and manufacturing sector experienced a notable 31 percent surge in hiring, contributing to India’s ambition to become a global manufacturing powerhouse. Additionally, there is a significant demand uptick in sectors such as home appliances and tourism, indicating dynamic shifts in consumer behaviour.

While startups lean towards fresh talent, other sectors witness an increase in demand for experienced professionals, particularly those with over 15 years of experience and mid-senior-level expertise.
