The social media personality Orhan Awatramani, widely recognized simply as Orry, has been formally summoned by the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) for questioning in connection with a massive ₹252 crore drug manufacturing and trafficking case. This pivotal moment marks a significant expansion of a probe that uncovered a sprawling narcotics network with alleged ties to organized crime and high-society events in India and the Middle East.

The foundation of the case dates back to a major operation in March 2024, when Mumbai Police officers made a massive breakthrough in Sangli, Maharashtra. The ANC raided an illegal manufacturing unit hidden on a remote farm and seized a staggering 126.14 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD), a synthetic stimulant drug often referred to as ‘MD’ or ‘M-Cat’. The contraband’s street value was conservatively estimated by authorities to be around ₹252 crore, indicating the scale of the syndicate.
Initial investigations revealed that the manufacturing facility in Sangli was not an isolated operation. Police found the unit was part of a meticulously organized, international drug pipeline allegedly controlled by fugitive drug trafficker Salim Dola and his associates, who are reported to have links with the underworld network run by Dawood Ibrahim. The drugs were allegedly transported discreetly across state lines using high-end luxury vehicles to evade surveillance, while the immense profits were systematically routed out of the country through illegal hawala channels.
Orry’s name surfaced in the probe following the crucial arrest of Mohammed Salim Sohail Shaikh, also known by the alias Lavish, who was recently deported from Dubai and taken into ANC custody. Shaikh, an alleged trafficker and close aide of Dola, is considered a key link in the network, particularly for the distribution and social outreach of the syndicate. During his extensive interrogation, Shaikh made several claims regarding his activities, stating that he was responsible for organizing elaborate, high-profile rave parties both in Mumbai and in Dubai.
Crucially, Shaikh claimed that these lavish gatherings were attended by numerous celebrities, actors, film producers, and prominent socialites, including Orhan Awatramani. The summons issued to Orry is a procedural step initiated by the ANC to investigate the truth behind these damaging allegations.
Officials are not treating Orry as an accused at this preliminary stage; rather, his testimony is required to corroborate or refute the statements provided by the arrested trafficker, Shaikh. The ANC is currently verifying every claim and analyzing digital records, communication trails, and financial transactions linked to the accused and the mentioned parties to map the full extent of the operation.
Orry’s questioning is designed to establish clarity on his interaction with Shaikh and any potential knowledge of the accused’s activities. The outcome of his statement will determine the future course of the investigation, including whether further high-profile individuals will be summoned.
