Mumbai gets a direct link to Hanoi as IndiGo expands Vietnam network 

For travellers between India and Vietnam, getting to Hanoi is about to become considerably easier. IndiGo has announced a new daily, direct service between Mumbai and Hanoi, beginning October 25, 2026, strengthening the airline’s growing presence in Southeast Asia and giving travellers from western India a more convenient connection to Vietnam’s capital. 

The new service, operated as flight 6E 1637, will depart Mumbai at 4:15 a.m. and arrive in Hanoi at 10 a.m. local time. The return flight, 6E 1638, will leave Hanoi at 7:05 p.m. and reach Mumbai at 11:05 p.m. The schedule is designed to make the route useful to both leisure travellers and business passengers, with the evening return from Hanoi offering a full working day in the Vietnamese capital. 

The launch also takes IndiGo’s Hanoi connectivity to three Indian cities. The airline already operates daily direct flights from Delhi and Kolkata, making Mumbai the latest addition to its Vietnam network. 

For Mumbai, the new connection arrives at an interesting moment. Vietnam has steadily emerged as one of Asia’s most attractive destinations for Indian travellers, combining relatively easy access with a distinctive cultural identity, food scene, and rapidly modernising cities. Hanoi, in particular, offers a different experience from the country’s better-known beach destinations. Its Old Quarter, lakes, temples, French colonial architecture, and street-food culture sit alongside a growing commercial and technology ecosystem. 

That economic dimension is increasingly important. Hanoi is a major centre for trade, manufacturing, technology, and commerce, creating opportunities for business travel alongside tourism. A direct Mumbai connection could therefore serve two very different travellers: the holidaymaker looking for a long weekend exploring the city and the entrepreneur or corporate executive moving between two increasingly connected Asian business hubs. 

IndiGo will also offer its IndiGoStretch business product on the route. Passengers opting for the premium cabin will receive wider seats with enhanced legroom, deeper recline, adjustable headrests, in-seat charging, complimentary hot meals, and priority services. 

The announcement is part of a broader push by IndiGo to deepen its international network as demand for travel beyond India grows. For Mumbai’s travellers, however, the significance is rather simpler: Hanoi is now one flight away, every day. 

Bookings for the new service are available through IndiGo’s website, mobile app, 6Eskai AI assistant, and authorised travel partners, subject to regulatory approvals.
