Iran is the latest country to allow Indians to enter without a Visa. The Visa free policy took place to put up with the boosting of tourism of Iran from all over the world, as per Ezzatollah Zarghami, the Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts. As per the considerations, the government of Islamic republic of Iran announced this in December last year itself. But with all the conditions applied, it came into effect now, which was confirmed by the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday.
However, there are some rules applied here. Indians carrying ordinary passports can enter Iran Visa-free Iran, which is exclusively for tourism purposes. This is limited to one visit every 6 months, with a maximum stay of 15 days.
The Visa waiver is applicable to voyagers who are opting for air travel to enter the country’s border. Whereas, Indian Nationals who need to visit Iran for business, education purposes, or wish to prolong their trip need to apply for Pre-arrival Visa under a specific category. The travellers entering the border via land route of Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or any neighbouring nation would not be allowed to enter without a Pre-arrival Visa.
The announcement of updates on Visa happened as a part of Iran’s Visa programme for various countries, which includes Brazil, Mexico, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, and Singapore.
Nonetheless, tourism in Iran is not amongst the nations that are overly tourism-friendly, especially when it comes to western culture and countries. Even so, in recent years things have changed and there has been an uptick in tourism from all over the world into Iran.
