Late Tuesday night, terrorists launched an attack on a joint Army and police Check post in the remote Chattargala area of Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, marking the third such incident in the past 72 hours. Official sources reported that multiple rounds were fired at the temporary operating base (TOB), prompting an immediate response from several security teams.

The assault led to a fierce gunfight between the terrorists and security forces in the higher reaches of Doda district, resulting in injuries to at least six personnel.

The local terror group Kashmir Tigers, with support from the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging the death of several Indian security personnel.

This incident occurred amid ongoing security operations aimed at arresting terrorists in the Doda region. It follows two previous attacks in the last three days, including incidents in Kathua and Reasi.

The Doda attack happened just hours after a terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces following an attack on a home in Kathua district. Earlier, on June 9, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi district, resulting in 10 deaths and 33 injuries.

Sources cited by News18 indicated that the terrorists involved were from the same group that targeted an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch on May 4. Police have since circulated sketches of the wanted terrorists and announced bounties for their capture.

Addressing the three consecutive incidents, Jammu and Kashmir Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain commented, “It is our hostile neighbour who always tries to disrupt the peaceful environment in our country. This (Hiranagar terror attack) appears to be a fresh infiltration. One terrorist has been killed, and the search for the others is underway.”
