Faster Diagnosis and Improved Patient Care Expected: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, June 16: In a major boost to public healthcare services, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has provided a state-of-the-art fully automated Biochemistry Blood Analyzer to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital (Sion Hospital), Mumbai, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the advanced equipment will significantly strengthen diagnostic capabilities at the hospital by enabling faster and more accurate blood testing, ultimately improving patient care and treatment outcomes.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to technology-driven healthcare, the Chief Minister noted that the government is focused on making quality medical services accessible to all citizens through the adoption of modern medical infrastructure. He also praised Indian Oil Corporation for its contribution to public health through its CSR programme.

“The installation of this advanced analyzer will make diagnostic procedures more efficient and reliable. It will help doctors take timely clinical decisions and ensure that patients receive appropriate treatment without delay,” Fadnavis said.

Sion Hospital, one of Maharashtra’s largest public healthcare institutions, caters to thousands of patients from Mumbai and other parts of the state every day. The hospital conducts a large number of blood tests daily, placing considerable pressure on its laboratory services.

The newly installed high-capacity analyzer is capable of processing a large volume of samples in a shorter time while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This is expected to substantially reduce report turnaround time, accelerate diagnosis, and facilitate early initiation of treatment. The facility will be particularly beneficial in handling emergency cases where quick diagnostic results are critical.

Emphasizing the importance of partnerships between government agencies, local bodies, and corporate organizations, the Chief Minister said such collaborative efforts play a crucial role in strengthening public healthcare infrastructure. He added that initiatives like these help extend quality healthcare services to economically weaker and underserved sections of society.

The addition of the advanced medical equipment is expected to enhance laboratory efficiency, reduce patient waiting time, and further improve the overall quality of healthcare services at Sion Hospital.
