Boost to Forest Cover: Tree Plantation and Block Afforestation Drive Set 

Mumbai | August 13: Under the Maharashtra Government’s ambitious initiative, the Solid Afforestation Programme at the Community Level, a dedicated fund of 28.07 lakh has been sanctioned for roadside tree plantation and block afforestation work across key districts including Nashik, Gondia, and Chandrapur. This financial allocation is expected to significantly enhance the overall forest and green cover in these regions.

By bypassing administrative delays through direct release via the Budget Estimation, Allocation and Monitoring System (BEAMS), this funding will accelerate pre-monsoon land preparation and first-year plantation activities. A major highlight of this drive is the plantation planned along a 14-kilometer stretch in the Nashik region, which will provide scenic shade and cleaner air for commuters and local residents. Furthermore, under the Nagpur forest circle, dense green zones will be developed through block afforestation covering 15 hectares of industrial and urban areas—specifically 5 hectares in Gondia district and 10 hectares in Chandrapur district.

Restoring ecological balance while beautifying urban and industrial corridors, this project marks a meaningful step in Maharashtra’s ongoing green transition. From tree-lined avenues in Nashik to lush mini-forests in the industrial belts of Gondia and Chandrapur, this initiative not only promises to enhance local surroundings today but also secures a healthier, pollution-free environment for future generations.
