Following a marathon meeting that lasted until 4 am, sources suggest that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may soon announce the names of around 100 Lok Sabha candidates for the upcoming elections. The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP’s National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other key leaders, discussed candidate selections for various states.

Key attendees included Chief Ministers from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Assam, Uttarakhand, and Goa, along with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP leaders from different states. The meeting notably focused on selecting candidates for all 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Sources indicate that the announcement of 4 to 5 candidates from Telangana could be imminent, with current MPs G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Arvind Dharmapuri likely to receive tickets again. Discussions with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took place regarding candidate selections. Additionally, candidate names were deliberated for seats in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarat, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand.

In Assam, BJP sources revealed that discussions were held for all Lok Sabha seats, with plans for the party to contest eleven seats. There is speculation that Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal could contest from Dibrugarh, while State Minister Rameshwar Teli might be nominated to the Rajya Sabha.

The meeting also addressed candidate selections for seats in Jammu, with further discussions planned for Kashmir in the next meeting. Talks focused on two to three seats in Delhi, with additional discussions scheduled for the future. While one candidate has been confirmed for a seat in Goa, decisions are pending for another seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly introduced the slogan ‘Crossing 400’ for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the BJP aiming to secure over 370 seats independently.
